Recent library developments

Skriv.opgave.dk

With financial support from the Development Pool for Public and School Libraries, Copenhagen Public Libraries, Gentofte Public Libraries, Roskilde County Library and Herning County Library have developed a new electronic guide to essay writing: www.skrivopgave.dk

Here pupils of primary, lower and upper secondary schools etc. can find inspiration and advice on choice of subject and problem formulation. The guide gives advice on techniques in information search both in the libraries and on the Internet. Search catalogues and search engines are described in detail and there are helpful suggestions on how to limit one’s search.

Skrivopgave.dk contains a number of concrete examples and animations which in a simple way illustrate the problems connected with writing an essay.

Skrivopgave.dk is a supplement to librarians and teachers who instruct 14-18 year-olds in information search and essay writing.

BibHit

The Project BibHit stems from a desire and an idea of being able to exploit the Internet’s great diversity of information in an effective and user-friendly way.

The purpose of BibHit is to select Internet resources of quality, to register and disseminate them in full text so that they are seen as a natural part of the knowledge mediation and not onl y as an extra supplement to the library’s other materials.

BibHit’s target groups are primarily the libraries’ adult users and secondarily the library staff in connection with user service.

BibHit’s catalogue is still being developed and does not as yet cover all subjects. The catalogue contains just over 8,000 records.

BibHit is developed with financial support from the Development Pool for Public and School libraries in a co-operation involving i.a. Gladsaxe Public Libraries, Hobro Public Library, Silkeborg Public Library, Århus Public Libraries, IndexData Aps and Webdezign. BibHit can be seen on www.bibhit.dk, which also has an introduction in English.
